Maito Gai
Maito Gai je jounin z Konohy. Má veľmi husté obočie, lesklý účes podľa “kastróla”, vyblýskané veľké biele zuby a nosí zvláštnu obtiahnutú zelenú kombinézu, na nej vestu, ktorá je typická pre jouninov. Sám sa prezýva ako “Impozantná zelená šelma z Listovej dediny”. Celkovo však vyzerá trochu trápne. Je senseiom tímu Gai, ktorý nesie jeho meno. Do tohoto tímu patrí Rock Lee (jeho obľúbený študent), Hyuuga Neji a TenTen.
Medzi Gaiom a Leeom je vzťah podobný vzťahu otca a syna. Lee vidí v Gaiovi svoj vzor a snaží sa napodobniť jeho štýl obliekania, účesu aj správania, v čom sa mu darí. Gai zasa vidí v Leeovi oddaného silného študenta. Keďže Lee nedokáže používať ninjutsu ani genjutsu, Gai ho vytrénoval na profesionála v taijutsu, lebo ním sám je. Medzi nimi sa dejú rôzne podivnosti.
Keď Lee niečo preženie, Gai sa zrazu z ničoho nič objaví a dá mu poriadny buchnát. Potom sa začnú jeden druhému ospravedlňovať a na pozadí sa objaví západ slnka, obidvaja plačú. Ich podivné správanie už lezie na nervy ich okoliu a najmä zvyšku tímu. Gai verí v “silu mladosti”, čo je dosť podstatné, lebo skoro vždy, keď s niekým trénuje, rozpráva len o tom.
Gai sa tiež rád stavia do rôznych póz, ako napríklad ruku zavrie do päste a palec zdvihne nahor, žiarivo sa usmeje a prižmúri jedno oko. Jeho rival je Hatake Kakashi. Najviac ho štve, že Kakashi ho občas ignoruje, lebo je zabratý do svojej knihy. Už dlho sa stretávajú a súťažia medzi sebou v rôznych disciplínach. Vždy sa striedajú vo vyberaní disciplíny. Najvtipnejšie bolo asi to, keď Kakashi vybral disciplínu Kameň-nožnice-papier (Hip-hap-hop). Gai verí v to, že keď nejaký neschopný človek na niečom tvrdo pracuje, môže to dokázať, čo je paródiou na americké filmy.
Aj napriek všetkému je Gai dosť obávaný a silný ninja. Dokáže otvoriť šesť brán chakry, čo je extrémne náročné. Vďaka tomu však vie spraviť niektoré extrémne náročné taijutsu techniky ako Asakuďžaku - ranný páv. Rozdal si to aj s Kisamem z Akatsuki, ktorého porazil.
